Brigard Fact #55

Although animists now live practically in exile, there was a time when they were respected -even revered- members of Brigardine society. Shortly before the Brigardine Conquest, the powers of the animists became wildly unreliable. Not understanding what was happening, the people of the various kingdoms blamed the animists for purposefully conspiring against them. In some cases, the governments began to execute every animist they could find. Those who survived did so by hiding in the wilderness. Even though their powers have long since stabilized, many still choose to remain in the wilderness, which they have come to view as their home.
